Natural resources and where they come from

Almost everything you use each day starts somewhere in nature, and each thing comes from its own place. Food is grown on farms or raised as animals, metals are mined from rocks deep in the Earth’s crust, and wood is cut from trees in forests. Water is collected from lakes, rivers and rain, while oil is drilled from ancient deposits far below the land or the sea. Because these resources take a long time to form, we need to use them carefully.
