Repeating Tune Pieces

Music often uses a small group of notes that comes back again and again. When you hear the same short tune or rhythm more than once, you have found its repeated motif.

In the picture

  1. A short note group: one red note, one yellow note, and one red note.
  2. The same note group again: it returns in the next glowing bubble.
  3. The same note group a third time: the pattern repeats once more.

Examples

  • A song chorus that sounds the same each time it comes around.
  • A clapping pattern like clap-clap-rest that keeps returning.
