People live in many different kinds of homes, and each one is built to suit the place around it. An apartment building holds many families stacked in one tall building, a farmhouse sits in the countryside near fields and animals, and a stilt house stands on tall wooden legs so water can pass underneath without flooding the rooms. A tent can be folded up and carried somewhere new, and an igloo is built from blocks of snow where the ground is frozen. So a home is not always the same shape, but it always does the same job: it keeps you dry, warm and safe.
