Each bar on a xylophone sings its own note, high or low. A drum or maracas just go bang or shake, with no tune of their own.
Examples
- Tapping the long bar and then the short bar of a xylophone gives a low note and then a high note
- Shaking maracas while singing a song keeps the beat but does not play the tune
Key takeaways
- Long xylophone bars sound low and short bars sound high
- Drums, tambourines and maracas make sounds but not tune notes
